Twenty-five children from around the world help Monique Mandali design the harmonious expressions portrayed in the Peace Mandala Coloring Book. Mandala, the symbol for a centric force of life, was further defined by Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss contemporary of Freud. Jung called the mandala the "collective unconscious or indwelling spiritual core of a person."
Every culture, no matter how primordial, gives expression to a spirit core of the human being in some way. I believe Mandali and the children portray that spirit core in the Peace Mandala Coloring Book.
I use the mandala coloring books to promote literacy when children are not engaged in reading or do not know how to read. A word or words to describe their mandala encourage interest in the symbolism of the written word. |
