In The Moral Animal, Robert Wright details the growth of a phenomenon called evolutionary psychology. Wright explores the fine-tuned mating dance of Stone Age man and woman. He shows how characteristics of masculine and feminine sexuality can be traced to the dawn of mankind.
Germane to the understanding of evolutionary psychology is the idea of evolution in the first place. The prototype for much of Wright's ideas and study is Darwin's theory of evolution. Much of this new theory is up for conjecture, but it is good reading because it causes us to question our own purpose in romance, family relationships, sexual appetites, morality and even death. |
